Some of you exposed your own British Occupation, or perhaps liberation in the perspective of many. Its our third year in a row doing sort of what we call flagship living history event. We place about 70 costumed interpreters out on to the streets of old city philadelphia and imagine what life was like under british rule. One of the big agendas of the event is to present the fall of 1777 in a complicated way to show that for many of the people that remained in the city that winter this was an occupation and maybe a liberation from many of their perspectives and they wrote about in the period being liberated from the tire ran cat you certain asians of a tyrannical congress, which is maybe something we can all aspire to some day. So we do this with living history programming in part because people come to museums to learn in all different ways to encounter the real things of history to have a Human Experience to connect with it and one way we bring it to life is with living history progra

This is about 40 minutes. Im president of the womens memorial foundation. Im a retired Major General from the army. Were at the womens memorial in arlington cemetery. Its the only major memorial thats dedicated to women who served their country. We have over three million women who have worn the uniform of the united states. This memorial was dedicated in 1997. Over 40,000 people lined memorial avenue from the bridge to the memorial. Women from world war i through the current times in 1997. The memorial is on 4. 2 acres of park service land. Behind me you can see the headstones of Arlington National cemetery and that surrounds the park service land. The memorial is come poposed of Education Center, theres a pool where we have ceremonies on memorial day for women who have fallen. Theres a line going from the Lincoln Memorial, you can see it as it comes up Memorial Drive with stones. Originally known as armistice day, and renamed in 1954, this is a day when we recognize the service of all u. S. Military veterans.
