(Submitted photo) On July 26, the officers of the Lynchburg-Clay FFA chapter went to Long’s Retreat Family Resort for three days and two nights. During this time, the officers held organizational meetings to discuss upcoming events for the 2020-21 school year. They even had time to enjoy the summer fun that comes with being at Long s Retreat, such as the go-carts, swimming in the lake and enjoying nature walks.

Ohio cattle industry award winners recognized

Although Ohio’s cattle industry was unable to celebrate in person at the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association’s (OCA) Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet, the 2021 award winners, scholarship recipients and Top Hand recruiters are still being celebrated for their achievements.  Each year OCA awards seven distinguished individuals and organizations for their achievements and leadership within Ohio’s cattle industry. Those awards and their respective recipients are as follows Commercial Cattleman of the Year Shugert Farms, St. Clairsville The Commercial Cattleman of the Year Award is presented to Ohio farms who have demonstrated success through their commercial cattle operations. These farms utilize performance information and the latest technologies available to increase the predictability of the cattle they raise, in addition to maintaining a continued focus on meeting and exceeding the expectations of beef consumers.

Highland County Junior Leadership - Times Gazette

Highland County Junior Leadership Submitted story The January meeting of the Highland County Junior Leadership via Zoom was called to order by president Dawson Osborn. There were 17 members and two advisors present. Members discussed upcoming deadlines for camp counselors, making extreme counselor training, and 4-H scholarships. Sara Newsome and Trinity Edenfield were selected to be on TLC and Newsome was selected to be on the Ohio 4-H Foundation Board. Last month’s community service was making Christmas ornaments and Christmas cards for the nursing homes. The members made 75 ornaments which went to Heartland of Hillsboro and 85 cards that went to The Laurels.
