Monadnock Ledger-Transcript - Judge denies probable cause hearing for accused Jaffrey killer

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript Modified: 1/7/2021 11:39:08 AM A judge has denied Jaffrey man Armando Barron’s request for a probable cause hearing in his ongoing capital murder case.  Barron is accused of killing 25-year-old Jonathan Amerault after allegedly discovering he was having an affair with his wife, and then attempting to dispose of the body and evidence at a campsite in Northern New Hampshire. Meredith Lugo, attorney for Barron, filed a request for an in-person probable cause hearing on Dec. 22. On Jan. 5, Judge David W. Ruoff denied that request. “At the heart of the defendant’s request is the simple argument that the only evidence that the defendant committed the crime of murder is the ‘word’ of the defendant’s wife,” Ruoff wrote in his decision. “The defendant argues, in effect, that she has a motive to lie and that her ‘evidence’ is just an accusation and is not credible. This argument, as the State points out, is not a reasonable interpretation

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript - Court won't hear Simons' case again

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript Published: 10/9/2017 6:06:25 PM The Cheshire Superior Court has once again ruled against a former Jaffrey Public Library employee, denying a motion to reconsider her wrongful termination case.  Court Clerk James I. Peale submitted a notice of decision on Thursday, stating that Judge David W. Ruoff denied Marilyn Simons’ motion for consideration of the court’s previous order. The one-page document did not offer any reason for the denial. Simons’ attorney Heather Burns submitted a motion for reconsideration on Sept. 21, arguing that Ruoff’s decision to dismiss the case did not address a claim that the library trustees violated RSA 202-A:17 by terminating her without good cause.

Swanzey ZBA to appeal to Supreme Court

Swanzey’s Zoning Board of Adjustment is appealing to the New Hampshire Supreme Court its recent court loss over a 76-unit senior housing complex near the Keene Dillant-Hopkins Airport. “The board met with legal counsel, and the board voted to appeal the superior court ruling to the state Supreme Court,” Director of Planning and Economic Development Matthew Bachler said. Cheshire Superior Court Judge David Ruoff vacated the board’s spring decision to deny an appeal on a special exemption hearing to Avanru Development Group, saying that the board gave too much weight to public sentiment opposed to the housing development.
