She suffered two cardiac emergencies in her 30s and was so grateful for the care she received that she donated more than $100,000 to Jefferson's emergency room and endowed a humanitarian award.
Joseph Lavalle, an Upper Moreland township commissioner and architect, passed away on Jan. 25. Joe grew up in Upper Moreland and loved the township. He chose to settle in Upper Moreland Township and raise his family, said Upper Moreland Commissioners President Kevin C. Spearing.

Lavalle, 63, had served as a commissioner for the township s Ward 4 for many years, and made significant contributions to the development and redevelopment of the township including as board vice president and committee chair, according to a statement from the township.Â
As a professional architect, Lavalle brought a wealth of knowledge to the board that greatly benefitted our community, the township said, and had advised the governor on the commonwealth s building code, according to his obituary.Â
