Salt water could damage that. but if it s analyzed right away after its been immersed you might be able to find some information on it. but this happened so quickly, i m not sure a passenger was savvy enough to take out a cell phone and start filming. but we know that some people still had their ids on them. maybe if their cell phone was in their pocket, that could be recovered. always a possibility. what are your thoughts on the theory that the plane could have landed on the surface of the water and then broke apart in the high waves? we ve discussed it a little bit. where are you at now? dave soucie and i have been talking about that possibility. it seems there s more fragments that this wasn t it certainly wasn t a successful ditch figureing if it occurred. chances are, it might have rolled over maybe broke off a wing or an engine. but i don t think the seas themselves would have broke that airplane into pieces. ....
i can only imagine the pain. pamela brown, thank you so much. i want to bring in dave soucie and rob mccallum. the royal navy just withdrew the submarine from the search. does this mean that investigators are giving up entirely? no. i think it s a distribution of assets. it indicates to me that they are taking a little bit of time to regroup, make sure they understand where they are with it and then move forward again. i don t see something that it s something that they are giving up. i don t see it as anything giving up at all. the tireless submarine is giving up and the echo is going back to port to restock and refuel. do you believe that there s a waning sense of urgency in this search? yes, i do. there s always a sense of ....
Difficult area to search. there s more rocks and ridges. i think expanding the search is the right thing to do and i don t think we should give up on the idea that those pings are real and they are from the aircraft. david, if you re saying that the first ping, they were not looking in that area even though it was the most promising, that sounds like the person looking for their keys under a specific street light because the light was better than where they actually lost their keys. it sounds like a bad decision was made. i don t think it s a bad decision. it s possible. it could be under the number four ping. but in my estimation and i m not expert. i ve got to quality that. but if you re looking at those pings and the dome it would have created from that ping, i would have started the search from within that area that it was most likely that the stronger signals were coming from. if we knew what the amplitude was of those pings, then you ....
