Fire commanders dispatched a boat that attacked from the bay level and despite some of the traffic snarl the fire trucks were able to get over the bay bridge from San Francisco to back up some of the crews that were already here. Right now the fire is largely under control. There is no reason for anyone to get concerned about the residential area. We had nibble reports from telephones. There could have been fireworks involved, but we had two spot fires that were going on the side of the island. The chief says the first reports again did come from San Francisco. The good news is that there are nor injuries and there is even more good news even though the flames were traveling toward federal property and they never got quite close enough to threaten any buildings because the fire crews were able to cut them off and then contain them and chase them back

Firefighters say its a small leak but they have evacuated the section of the hotel sitting here, the rooms that face the tank here in americas best value inn. They tell me theres about ten people. One officer told me we are talking about 500 gallons worth of propane inside that tank. We have a very small leak. When i say small, talking about something the size of your home barbecue propane tank at this point. We are mitigating this and will have details soon. It happened at carlson boulevard, ramps in both directions are closed now. No word when they will get this cleared out of here. Wait willing for the tow truck to get here.
