Fire commanders dispatched a boat that attacked from the bay level and despite some of the traffic snarl the fire trucks were able to get over the bay bridge from San Francisco to back up some of the crews that were already here. Right now the fire is largely under control. There is no reason for anyone to get concerned about the residential area. We had nibble reports from telephones. There could have been fireworks involved, but we had two spot fires that were going on the side of the island. The chief says the first reports again did come from San Francisco. The good news is that there are nor injuries and there is even more good news even though the flames were traveling toward federal property and they never got quite close enough to threaten any buildings because the fire crews were able to cut them off and then contain them and chase them back down the hill. Right now that fire is under control. Reporting live, abc7 news. The fire caused a massive traffic back up for drivers leaving San Francisco. Of pictures of the eastbound i80 with traffic heading on to the bay bridge on the left side. One lane of the lower deck was closed, but it has since reopened. The westbound treas offramp was closed because of the fire. Lets take a live look at the traffic and on the left hand side it looked the same. Crews battled another wildfire in marin county. The twoalarm fire started after 3 30 in steep terrain. The flames were burning below a fire road and threatening homes near sunrise lane. The fire was controlled and in less than an hour controlled in less than an ho no structures were hurt. Firefighters are continuing to battle a wildfire on Camp Pendleton that is just 15 contained. It broke out in hot, dry and windy conditions. The flames have burned up 1500 acres so far. Four buildings on the base have minor damage. Tonight a minor earthquake rattled residents in the east bay. The calls have come in from allaround the east bay and from San Francisco. You pg e has begun turning off a major pipeline through san carlos. They shutdown line 147 because of safety concerns. Lilian kim is live in san carlos with the story. Lilian . Ama, line 147 runs under britain avenue. It is four miles long and according to city leaders a potential danger to the neighborhood. They insist nothing is wrong with line 147. They are turning off the natural Gas Transmission line because a judge told them to. Those who live along the pipeline are relieved. I dont want to be in danger. The city leaders asked a judge to step in after pg e emails surfaced. The transmission line which runs between highways 280 and 101 is similar to the pipeline that exploded in san bruno three years ago. Eight people died from that blast and 38 homes were destroyed. Who knows what is down there . Their records are faulty. They say the hope is for pg e to do a thorough inspection when the pipeline is turned off. A test conducted two years ago showed it to be safe, but city leaders want more proof. We havent got the answer tots questions. We get the answers to the questions the engineers and professionals are doing this wen good shape. We dont know what the outcome will be. It is unclear how long the pipeline will be shutdown.
