For the third time since 2022, the Plus City Centre in Pasching (near Linz, Austria) is hosting a major rapid chess and blitz event. Four tournaments will be held from 9 to 12 May, namely the Open Austrian Team Championship in Blitz Chess and Rapid Chess, an Open Blitz Tournament and an Open Rapid Chess Tournament. The total prize fund is €60,000, and with Vishy Anand, Alexandra Kosteniuk and Zhu Chen, three world champions are taking part in this year's Open Blitz Championship.
After it set off from India, the Chess Torch relay which will travel the world celebrating the first centenary of FIDE has reached the African continent. The torch arrived in Ghana’s capital, Accra. The second World Corporate Chess Championship will consist of a series of online events that will conclude with an over-the-board final in New York in June. The event is open to teams representing legally recognized companies from all around the world. Every team has a right to include one invited player who is not directly employed at the company or is a member of the board.
