Front lines of helping the homeless, but he says his church is being overwhelmed, and he is asking for help. Reporter reverend emmanuel is the reverend of the church of god in christ. He is a Community Leader and at one point he lost his home, forcing him into homelessness over a decade ago. Now, reverend dorn continues to serve his community, including at times when he feels underappreciated. People dont have any respect for the church anymore, and that really hurts me. Reporter here are some pictures the reverend shared with us, showing different individuals hopping the wall of the church and another person using a ladder to climb to the roof of the church to possibly use drugs. It is like nobody has any rules anymore nobody has any moral compass to not do stuff like that i caught a guy down here defecating reporter in the last two years, the problem has gotten worse. Got up there and took the bulb out so it would not come on. ....
According to the Public Policy institute the store burglaries are at the highest level in california since 2008. Rose 16 across the state. It is an especially frustrating problem in Alameda County where break ins spiked 65 between 2019 and 2022. And, while oakland missed out on money from the state, Alameda County will be receiving money. The help can not come soon enough. We have been here a few times over the last few months. Reporter you can see the owner installed a gate, security cameras, all of it because of the constant break ins. Now, she is hopeful that this new approach can help solve this problem. Seeing the familiar face that greets her here every morning hurt. She shared it was hard to watch, and thinks the city should make some changes. I think we need a light at this crosswalk , definitely. We have a lot of kids right here, like i say. It is important for us , because today it was bob, but who knows who it will be tomorrow . Reporter she is not the only neighbor who feels like this. 25 miles per hour, just like a school zone, here. They need a stoplight, there, because there is limited access to this school from two directions. Reporter by the time school let out, another crossing guard was sent out to protect kids at this intersection. Neighbors a cars constantly speed around the school, and they hope that this incident is a wakeup call for all. And they are sending their warm wishes to their favorite crossing guard.
