reporter: that s what neighbors heard when they saw the commotion unfold and a swarm of officers arriving on the scene. officer cintolo was shot twice, officer morris struck in the leg severing a critical artery and getting immediate first aid from fellow officers who dragged them out to safety while returning gunfire likely saving their lives. shot and killed was 33-year-old kirk figueroa. a boston constable who also runs a private security firm. his vehicle was towed from the scene. and when someone is going to use deadly force we re going to respond appropriately. one of the best places around, you know, that s why i m really shocked that this happened. reporter: police say figueroa wasn t licensed to carry the weapon and they don t believe they were set up for an ambush. it is unclear how it all escalated. after meeting in the hospital with the wounded men, commissioner evans says officer morris told him this. i want to thank this particular officer. he saved my l
