Right now, more than 1 Million People are without power and there are thousands of National Guard members standing by all ready to direct hit and now Hurricane Matthew gradually weakens the danger is far from over. And its going to be in South Carolina. Its located now about 20 miles to the east of hilton head. They have had wind gusts from the idland island at 96 Miles Per Hour to hilton head hour. So its in that position moving off to the north northeast at 12 Miles Per Hour. And sending heavy rains from the savannah area which had over 11 inches of rain into North Carolina from South Carolina. So theres going to be big rainfall amounts. Eye wall is moving onshore right into charleston now. Thats where the eye wall was strong with strong winds and heavy rain is moving. Some of the heavier rain is going to be extending up into southeastern virginia and some of the heavy rain south of new englant little rain tomorrow especially southeastern mass. Thats where the storm surge is likely to be. The highest over the next 12 toe 24 hours 4 to as much as 9 feet. And rainfall in the order of several inches. Here four to as much as 8 extending to norfolk virginia. For us we are in for fine weather today although theres fog around in spots this morning. This will be the last warm day. 71 as clouds roll in. The sunshine will disappear and we will see some sun before the fog burns off. Tomorrow we get morning showers north and west of boston but the rain lingers through the afternoon over southeastern mass and the cape but columbus day is nice and sunny except for lingering clouds. Bad times actually could have been a lot worse. So i mean, we are thankful it didnt make a direct hit in florida. It was paralleling the coast the whole way so the can onshore. Thank goodness. They have had damage and lot of rain down there. And over 11 inches of rein by the way in rain by the way at the Savannah International airport. Heres hath yew and 20 miles to the the east matthew and 20 miles to the east of hilton head South Carolina. The center of the storm is considered a cat 2 with maximum sustained winds down to 105 miles an hour. Its moving to the north the shield of that is moving through South Carolina now and now edging into North Carolina. And the storm had continue to pound them during the day as it movesin that general direction. The eye wall is moving there as you can see near charleston moving to charleston to hilton head and its pivoting back in this direction as the storm moves north northeast. So its going to make landfall here the first time it made landfall in the United States. And so there you can see the ribbon of rain and strong Winds Continuing to North Carolina but the storm will slowly weakening with time going from a cat 2 storm down to a cat 1 storm later today and the heave year rains twisted dash heave year rain twaift a heave year rain twists off heavier rain twists offshore. We wont get the wind this weekend at all. We will have gustier winds on monday on columbus day out of the north. That storm will be way down here by then. So, that is the deal on matthew projection of Still Producing the storm surge of 4 to maybe as high as 7 to 9 feet but generally 4 to 6 fee in feet in many locations as the eye wall moves onshore. Some places down this where it make the landfall to the northeast of the storm center is where some of the higher storm surges will be and theres where the heavier rain from here on out over the next 24 to 48 hours several inches hikely down here cues likely down here causing additional flooding where they have had does a crazy looking loop. Not to say this never happened. There have been cases where this type of motion has happened because of weak steering currents and this is going to weaken into a Tropical Storm and move back down here. No reason to believe its going to be redeveloping back into a hurricane again but we will watch it carefully. As it moves north northeast now, it stales off this way. You can see into the northeast basically clear except areas of burning off quickly and then we will see the cloud starting to increase. We will have the the most sunshine this morning as the clouds start showing up especially by late morning or definitely this afternoon but no rain until this evening when a batch of showers comes through vermont and you can see that northeast and southwest batch. And then some of the showers to the south which will be tapped on outer fringe of the hurricane. Some of that will be brought up. Tomorrow morning there will be a few scattered showers around boston. Nothing techly heavy but of a damp start. But sort of a damp start. But maybe up almost close to boston but areas farther north and west virtually no rain orisolated sprinkling as heavier rain was captured and pulled up by the system and shift eastward and out to sea on monday. Should be clearing up but some cloudiness low cloudiness may the low lyings spots it raidrate its quickly low lying spots it rate its quick radiate quickly. Its not quite as warm as the last couple days but nice for this time of the year. Tonights lows in the the mid to upper 50s. Much milder than recent nights. As of 6 this morning, math you was centered about matthew was centered 20 miles east of hilton head a moving to the north northeast it 12 miles an thats a narrow air yo within the eye wall moving onshore close to South Carolina and in the charlton area and extending southwestward. Thats where it is. Lots of heavy rain more than 11 inches at Savannah International airport is moving into South Carolina. You can see the eye wall is right here on the coastline of south cire linea. Near South Carolina near charleston and southwest from there. Thats where the eye wall will have tremendous wind gusts are going on right now. Probably approaching 100 miles an hour and the moving into portion of North Carolina. It will move like this along the North Carolina coast and turn more east northeast with time. Some of the rain may be pulled up from that system so we may get somewhat heavier rain southeastern massachusetts. Tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow evening we will not get the wind from this at all. But we will have a gusty wind on monday as High Pressure builds in from the west. So the storm surge will carolina. Some spots may be 8 or 9 feet isolated areas. Extending up into portions of North Carolina as well with the heavy rain going on over the next several hours. Some places getting 4 to 8 inches coming up here during today. Causing flooding but for us we have no rain at all today. A few areas getting fog in the valley this morning. That burns off and we end with up sunshine giving way to clouds. There was no way to get this under control when this van crashed into home in arlington. The driver forgot to put it in park and wacked away and it started to roll. He ran to stop it but the van knocked him over. The passenger then tried to stop the van but failed and got hurt and the van went through as abouty intersection only stopping only stopping when it hit the front of a home. Just surprised that the truck or the van made it here like to crash into the stairs. Police cited the driver a 45 yearold man from new york for not making sure the van was secure. South carolina and the certainly the eye wall mock onto charleston and all along the coast right now with the strongest winds we have had winds gusts of 85 to 95 Miles Per Hour from hilton head to georgia. And the savannah had more than 11 inches and thats where its really bad right now. Very, very heavy rain and strong winds in the eye wall across most all of South Carolina now moving into North Carolina and the storm will take a track about like this. As it moves onshore its going to be right on the coastline and then moving right onto southern North Carolina and then starting to churn out to sea near the outer banks and then going out to sea beyond that. Some of the rain may be captured from that and pulled up from an upper level system from the northwest and great lakes. So we may get somewhat heavier rain over massachusetts tomorrow afternoon. But no wind to go along with that. The storm surge will be on the carolinas today from south kleina into North Carolina carolina and North Carolina and 4 to 8 feet. The tide are going out but they have had big surges south of that in the georgia coast earlier. And, of course, its pouring down there with the 11 incheshaving fallen in savannah and that might be underdoing it in some spots. This is the official projected start turning and looping like this. Not to say this never happened before theres been cases over the years when they have been looped like this because of poor steering currents and this will be one case that is going to do that. Night coming up its not going to com and give us a lot of wind and rain but we may get some of the rain pulled out as the strip of rain is pulled up as an upper level system comes in from the west. You can see we have got basically clear skies out there. Just a few scattered pa low clouds maybe. But cloudiness will increase. Enjoy the sunshine this morning. Tomorrow a little more pronounced over southeastern massachusetts ending off to the north and west of boston by but its a few scattered showers here but this is where the steadiest and hefty heaviest showers may happen tomorrow afternoon. And tomorrow night the upper level system digs in and pulls the rain out. It wont pull the hurricane up here but pull some of the rain and moisture up. 52 degrees in boston right now. We have 40s off to the north and west. A few 30s in some of the valleys like low lying spots like norwood. And we have vineyard and 39 in falmouth. Cold places but it will warm into the upper of 0 60s to lower 70s. Not as warm as the last few days but very, very nice. And even though the clouds show up and not nearly as cool tonight 50s tonight and we will be book up to the upper 50s and lower 60s tomorrow. Heres my 7day accuweather forecast calling for the warm day we have today but clouds will show up and it will be wet tomorrow morning as a few scattered showers north and west of boston but it looks night over southeast mass and cape. And after that we have sunshine returning for columbus day and it will be on the cool side as you can see. Clouds may linger on cape cod and partly to mostly sunny on tuesday. Clouds may come in on wednesday and a few showers on thursday. Heres trivia for this hour. The strongest most dis destructive sector of a hurricane is where . The answer is b the right front quadrant. You are absolutely right. We will look at this map. I want to show you right now. Lets go up to the map and see. This is matthews history as it moved up and was paralleling the coast of florida. The right front quadrant of the storm is located right in here quadrant heres the left front qawt quadrant and right rear and this one quadrant and the right rear and its this one right here. There are strong windsthe on the backside but not nearly as strom as the right front quad strong as the right front quadrant. Even though the damage was bad and there was certainly flooding in florida, the worst part was out over the much destruction and caused so many fatalities. It went over many of the island in the bahamas which did a number down there because they were in the right front quadrant of the storm. Here in the left front quadrant we have had strong winds but theres the worst part in here going offshore and now as it moves onshore, that right front quadrant is moving on the South Carolina coast but the storm is weakening somewhat fortunately winds. They are contending with that in the next several hours as it moves onshore. Thats it. We will look at the forecast again in the next halfhour. Kerry. Thank you. Our challenge is they fix it or we will fix it and our ability to fix it will be through the courts. Eye wall is moving onto the charleston South Carolina area right now. We can see that as we go to the radar right in there you can see the deep reds right in there. Thats where the eye wall is and where the strongest wind s we have spiral bands of showers that pivot inland and some are producing heavy rain and at times spin up tornadoes a few tornadoes warnings have been going up this morning. In fact the Tornado Warning up carolina area as they have been spotting a potential tornado there on the doppler radar. Heres whats going on. Will spin northeastward going up over the outer banks and weakening with time later today to a cat one storm and to a Tropical Storm this will never come up to new england but some of the rain may be captured by an upper level system coming at us from the west and thats why we have rain in the forecast for us during the day tomorrow. As this thing goes out to sea. But some of the rain we captured we will not get strong winds with it. But they will coast. One foot in front of the other runners get up early and run three times a week with a community so there are they get other things job skill trainings and resources to find housing and it builds from there. We have had Great Program partners including cbs and they help us employ people so we had a woman who was out of work for 15 years and had some skill gaps and we were able to through the help of local partners filth gaps and now she works at a cbs in cv thats great do you follow up and speak with them after or visit them how does that work itmust rebbe warding poo we have an Alumni Network so they run with us as they want or if they want we continue to stay in touch. And the storm is moving off to the north northeast at 12 Miles Per Hour. So its going to make landfall finally in the United States and in the state of South Carolina. This morning. So, it wi storm and it will be downgraded down to a trop scale storm Tropical Storm but theres the northwestern eye wall that pivots on to the coastline where they get the heaviest rain and strongest destructive wind right now. We have the spiral bands that continues to pivot onshore and with the band theres been quick spin up small tornadoes heretherefrom northern South Carolina and southern north care loons the storm spins and spirals along the South Carolina carolina and storm storm and the storm spins and spy rals along the South Carolina coast. Some of the moisture will be captured by a system from the west an upper level system will capture some of the rain and pull it out but its not going to be able to pull up wind. Most of our wind on monday out of the north at 15 to 30 miles an hour on columbu the sunshine will be back. But its not sunny down here today. They have inches of rain from South Carolina North Carolina savannah airport had more than 11 inches of rain out of this. And these are the wave heights in the september being the highest wave heights running 18 to 24 feet in here and those are just offshore and some of the waves of course battering the coastline and we have the storm surge to deal with as well down in here. But we dont have to worry much and rough surf out there for sure and heres projected track the National Hurricane center has not changed much for the last several days. It was last tuesday that it became more apparent this storm was not going to come up to new england at all. It was tuesday afternoon when the models started to show this. So its going take a track like this and start looping and not to say this never happened theres been cases over the years where the storms do loop and the steering currents are very weak. And this will be one of the cases indeed. Looks like its on a beeline will curl out like that but some of the moisture will be pulled northward and moved into new england during tomorrow especially southeastern massachusetts. Now this initial band of showers may come into new england into vermont coming up for tonight but there will be no rain anywhere today but the cloud sem will be on the increase and clouds will be on the increase. Mid and high level cloud storm clouds coming up from the southwest. Tonight 9 309 first batch of showers cuts across 9 30, beautiful fall foliage its really incredible this year. Ive seen it and its awesome. A few other scattered showers tonight over southeastern mass and the general area down here is most vulnerable to being wet. Later tonight and through much of tomorrow, farther north and west of boston rain chances drove off especially drop off especially late tomorrow morning a few scattered showers and decent rain will fall down here making a wet soaking day even in to tomorrow evening. The rain may actually blossom back into Central Massachusetts late tomorrow tomorrow night with that disturbance coming from the northwest we may have a little wave disturbance forming nothing to do with the hurricane to the south but a wave disturbance may help to enhance that rainfall late tomorrow. We clear up after that. So its just unbelievable foliage up north in most locations in some places its absolutely spectacular like here route 3 looking out all up northern New Hampshire. I was in maine yesterday and its fantastic. So enjoy it if you k and it wont be much rain on foliage country tomorrow but there will be some down here. A few catered scattered showers in the morning and in the afternoon its rainy and southeastern mass and then its moving out until we get sunshine on monday and tuesday and wednesday and partly cloddy at times especially over the cape but cool weather is coming in the soaries of nice warm days kerry. The storm is about 30 miles to the South Southwest of charleston South Carolina. Thats where the center of the system was. Still, considered a cat 2 storm with some sustained wind there now around 105 Miles Per Hour in the eye wall. It is producing tons of rain produced more than 11 inches at the Savannah International airport and we have the northwestern eye wall and right in the charleston area where the heaviest rain and strongest destructive wind is occurring as it moves off to the north northeast. Plenty of rain to fall and its down here as the system is down here. Here we are up in new england and we have a little strip of showers which is moving all up to Northern New York state and a little rain will get grabbed by a system coming into the west and thats why i think we will have some rain tomorrow especially southeastern massachusetts but not the wind. Today, its a cloud rolling in and some places have its beautiful this morning and this is a last in this series of warm days 71 today. And according to the latest information with the National Hurricane senters cat 2 storm and so its still a creating a lot of rain and will produce 6 to as much as 12 inches of rain in some locations in the carolinas today so its causing freshwater flooding and flooding along the coast due to the storm surge. Its moving to the north northeast at 12 miles an hour little bit. Also, just to the northeast of charleston here we have wilmington and theres been scattered spin up tornadoes and a few tornadoes warning in some of the spiral bands that spin in here and doesnt take much to spin up a few tornadoes. And just minor ones within the whole hurricane circulation so we are looking at flash flood watches and warnings thats been put up and several more inches of rain today. Notice heres the island here. Some of the rain will be captured a little bit of it will be captured and pulled into new england tomorrow. You can see the first swath shootingp ahead here. An upper level disturbance from the great lakes as it digs into the northeast, it will be able to dig down and pull up some of the rain tomorrow and especially affecting southeastern massachusetts. The reason we are having the showers now this cold front is approaching from the west. Thats going to put an end to it will get close to 70 even though we have cloudiness arriving now. Theres matthew there. And heres nicole its a Tropical Storm its weakened in the last 24 hours or so. So, we see some of the cloudiness starting to show up. Theres some fog in the River Valleys like the merrimack and Connecticut River valley and theres some other cloudiness starting to show up as well. So, the idea is its going to get cloudier with time but no rain today this evening there will be a few showers the northern mountains and starting to see some showers come up from the southwest here pointed towards southeastern new england and tomorrow morning we will have those showers there and which will be sort of variable in intensity and a few other scattered showers north and west of the boston. This as the energy comes into the west it will dig in enough so it may be a wave disturbance along the frontal boundary that has nothing to do with matthew to the south. But some of the tropical moisture will be connected and so later tomorrow and tomorrow evening there be could beheavier rain southeastern massachusetts if that wave develops and everything shifts offshore and we will have sunshine on monday except varying amounts of clouds. Todays highs near 70 not bad and the clouds on the increase so we wont have the brilliant sunshiny weather the last few days. Low temperatures tonight will be in the 50s, mid to upper 50s for the most part much milder than it was early this morning and then lower 60s to upper 50s tomorrow not much of a tempur and again this is fall foliage extravaganza time. We have one called the Womens Congress and it was the first one last year in our church and it was held in our Church Building in providence but it was to bring women around the idea of their own lives and their own communities right where they live and to be a blessing where they are and it todd on more than just more than just Emotional Health it talked about Spiritual Health too so its something thats impressive and even to the governor andn rhode island she was impressed it has spiritual element not just a physical or emotional element but the spiritual element too as well. Important to also let our viewers know is this only for the women who go to the churches or its opened to everyone. Its opened to everyone and theres no judgment on who you know what kind of church you go to or if you dont go to church at all. Everyone is welcomed and anywoman can come enjoy the is of and enjoy the services and they are totally free. So, they are totally free and 2016. This is the latest effort you did it last year so what is that all about. We are excited to be able free vied coats and to be able to provide coats and some supplies to School Children in the region so that of course there are people that dont have access to good coats and there are people that have coats that are good but they are going to look for a newer one this year and they want to give it so someone it to someone else that can use it people together to give and also to help people who are in need. So last year, pastor you were able to help 276 families. This year, the goal 500. Exactly. Right. You are trying to double that. Trying to double that. You think you can. Right with the help of everyone. I think you can surpass the 500. I think so i think so and next year maybe we will go for a thousand but we are working hard to see if we can. Gloves scarves and right in addition to coats and just lightly used coats or what condition is that in. Bring a nice lightly used coat something in Good Condition and we will clean it and take care of that and we are giving toys away to kids so for christmas time there will be a ton of toys available for kids. Its so important for our children to see toys so you know to them again, a toy is even more important than a coat for coming by and telling us about the center.
