Heres what assistant sheriff tom roberts told us it is unclear how many callers were affected over the six hour period. Calls were dispatched to henderson and North Las Vegas where metro staffers went to help answer the rerouted calls after the problem was discovered around 3 30 tuesday afternoon. The Industry Standard for 911 is for a call to be answered in ten seconds. But yesterday callers could have waited 30 to fifty minutes. And before calls were rerouted, some calls were dropped. Roberts apologized to the community. He said it is unlikely a failure like this would happen again.
