Engineers have been periodically releasing water from the addicks dam to relieve pressure and try to limit the damage down to nearby homes. But now water levels are over the height of the reservoir edge. Six neighbourhoods nearby are being told to leave their homes if they can. Since the storm hit 30 inches of rain has fallen and forecasters warn more is on the way. Its estimated 450,000 people will need help and 30,000 people are likely to require Emergency Shelter.
