HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - On Wednesday, Gov. Ralph Northam stated at a press conference that he realizes there has been some confusion on when and where to receive a vaccine after the commonwealth has expanded who is eligible to receive it.
“That confusion is justified because the answer has not been clear, but we’re going to have this fixed very soon,” Northam said.
Some of that confusion is being felt in the Shenandoah Valley by some of our most vulnerable.

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - The Central Shenandoah Health District continues its efforts to get the COVID-19 vaccine into more arms around the Shenandoah Valley.
Last week, the targeted population was a continuation of Phase 1a. This upcoming week the CSHD will work with 1b recipients and the remainder of 1a recipients, like health care workers and EMS.
“We’re going to start doing targeted groups, such as K-12 [teachers and staff] this week,” Marsha Rodeffer, the Nurse Manager Senior with the CSHD. “Our other community health care partners will continue to do the 1a health care personnel in the area, and priority groups from 1b, specifically the 65 and older group.”

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - While continuing work on phase 1a, the Central Shenandoah Health District is now working to vaccinate high-priority members of phase 1b.
Those immediately eligible in phase 1b will be vaccinated through a “point of dispensing” site made available for them by CSHD. These sites aren’t open to the general public and require an appointment.
“We’re working with essential workers and we are working on reaching out to folks who are 65 and up to get them scheduled for an appointment,” CSHD Public Information Officer Laura Lee Light said.
