Okaloosa County, Florida schools to try a shorter COVID quarantine period

Call your child’s doctor if your child becomes sick and needs medical attention, the website said.  If unable to commit to the above requirements, your child will need to complete the 14 days of quarantine at home.

Okaloosa County schools awarded $1 5 million grant from DOD

The release notes Okaloosa County has approximately 9,500 students whose parents are active-duty military or work on local military installations. It adds that the mobility required of military families can create challenges for students, so a focus of the new program will be improving the college entrance exam scores of military-connected students. The release said ENGAGE will meet that goal through three strategies: Creating a STEAM based curriculum with a focus on healthy body and mind strategies Providing in-class support through additional technology components and STEAM coaching Providing unique tutoring opportunities through after-hours support and resources The release also said the district appreciates the positive impacts that military families have on our community and that the district is excited to deepen its partnership with military families through the DoDEA grant.
