Rosyth: Iron Lady barge departs Forth port for Energy Park Fife in Methil

THE Iron Lady barge had a tight fit under the Forth bridges yesterday (Thursday) morning.
Photos from local photographer Gordon Hamilton showcases the barge and its cargo of a topside drilling platform departing from the Port of Rosyth and passing beneath the iconic bridges.
The Iron Lady had been berthed at the Port of Rosyth since its arrival on April 11 before departing for Energy Park Fife in Methil where its cargo will be unloaded prior to its decommissioning.
The Iron Lady was towed by three of Forth Ports-owned tugs.

The world’s largest construction vessel has arrived in the Firth of Forth.
Allseas’ Pioneering Spirit, the largest vessel of its type in the world, sailed into Fife on Saturday.
The Pioneering Spirit in the Forth Estuary.
Measuring 382 metres long and 124 metres wide, it will transfer a topside drilling to the 200 metre long barge, Iron Lady, on Saturday evening.
With a lifting capacity of 48,000 tonnes the Pioneering Spirit is specially designed for the single-lift installation and removal of large offshore platforms. ....

Rosyth: Allseas' Pioneering Spirit part of River Forth marine operation

A MAJOR marine operation is to be carried out in the River Forth this weekend.
Allseas’ Pioneering Spirit, the largest construction vessel in the world, is scheduled to transfer its cargo of a topside drilling platform to the 200-metre long cargo barge, Iron Lady, on Saturday evening.
The Pioneering Spirit is 382 metres long and 124 metres wide and was specifically designed for the single-lift installation and removal of large offshore platforms. The vessel has a lift capacity of 48,000 tonnes.
The following morning, the Iron Lady and its cargo will disengage from the Pioneering Spirit and will be towed by Forth Ports’ tugs, the Craigleith, Inchcolm and Fidra, under all three Forth crossings to the Port of Rosyth. ....
