Even as we ve seen multiple reports of Bharat Biotech s Covaxin being equally and sometimes even more effective than its peers against Covid-19 and several of its variants, a fresh report has suggested that millions of doses of the vaccine are set to expire early next year.
“Administration of Precaution Dose is pivotal to confer full/extended protection to beneficiaries against Covid-19. It helps to reduce the severity of the COVID-19 disease, risk of hospitalization and thereby reduces mortality,” said the government.
A total of 1,15,656 precaution doses of Covid vaccines were administered among those aged 18-59 years till 7pm on Tuesday, taking the tally of such jabs given in this age group to 39,00,663, according to the Health Ministry data.
Of these, over 11 lakh doses were administered on Saturday till 7 pm. The daily vaccination tally is expected to rise with the compilation of final reports for the day by late in the night.
