The JN.1 sub-variant is playing a major role in the upsurge of cases in many places across the world and this variant is prevalent in 36-40 countries. India is also seeing a steady rise in cases over past few days.
COVID-19 Update: Amidst growing apprehensions, the resurgence of the coronavirus has struck India once again, with the newly identified variant JN.1 causing a surge in cases. The tally has reached 1,970, prompting Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to convene a crucial online meeting with state health ministers and UT officials to address the escalating crisis.
The active cases now comprise 0.13 per cent of the total infections and the national Covid-19 recovery rate was 98.68 per cent, according to the health ministry website.
Karnataka government has withdrawn 7-day home quarantine circular for passengers from countries with high risk of Covid-19. It asks them to follow centre's guidelines.
