The Buckeye Institute: Education Savings Accounts Give Ohio’s Children the Best Chance to Succeed May 05, 2021 Columbus, OH – On Wednesday, The Buckeye Institute testified (see full text below or download a PDF) before the Ohio Senate Primary and Secondary Education Committee on the education budget included in House Bill 110, Ohio’s biennial operating budget, which accounts for a little less than half of state spending. In his testimony, Greg R. Lawson, research fellow at The Buckeye Institute, outlined areas where the Senate can improve the new proposed school funding formula pointing out that, “[f]unding formulas should be adjusted to provide a more accurate picture of the plan’s true long-term costs and to move past the flawed caps and guarantees of the present system. Special to The Alliance Review Alliance City Schools Superintendent Rob Gress has announced changes to several of the district’s leadership positions. On Monday, Gress announced Shaun Fontaine will transition from his current role as band director at Alliance High School to become the school’s assistant principal. He will assume the post for the 2021-22 school year. In a news release, the district said the change is pending approval from Alliance City Schools’ Board of Education, which meets April 20. Changes at Alliance Elementary and Alliance Early Learning schools were announced Tuesday. Starting in 2021-22 school year, the district announced, Alliance Early Learning School will have two principals one for kindergarten and first grade, and one for preschool. ....
Plain Local approves strategic plan focused on the whole family PLAIN TWP. The Plain Local School District is looking toward its future beyond COVID-19. The school board on Wednesday unanimously approved the district’s 2020-24 strategic plan that will serve as a compass for the district of roughly 6,000 students and 600 employees. “I know we’re in a difficult time, but we will come out of this and when we come out of it, we have to be better than when we went into it,” Superintendent Brent May said. “… We can’t stop moving forward.” The plan includes seven goals and associated objectives that touch every aspect of the district including academics, facilities, employee recruitment and development, finances, culture and community relationships. ....
