The changes take effect July 1, and officials hope they streamline the way they support their schools. âI believe that the reassignments are going to [position] us now that weâre going to be back [teaching] face-to-face,â said board Chairman David Richardson. âAs we embark on our mantra of a new day, [that] new leadership and those reassignments are just kind of making sure everyoneâs on the right seat on the bus. First, the board named Stan Winborne, now the assistant superintendent for operations and human resources, to the position of associate superintendent of curriculum, instruction and student services. OXFORD â Granville County Public Schools officials formally recognized Courtney Currin as their Principal of the Year during a school board meeting on May 3. The principal at Tar River Elementary School, Currin said the award is a testament to all of the hard work she, her staff and students have put in over the past year. âIâm very humbled, honored and still kind of in a state of shock,â Currin said. âI canât put into words how much this means to me because it does mean a lot.â A graduate of the N.C. Teaching Fellows Program at Meredith College in 2004, Currin began working in the GCPS system as an English teacher at J.F. Webb High School, earning National Board certification during her eight years at the school. ....
