Warren County elected leaders and officials kept busy in 2020 while dealing with COVIDâ19 epidemic.
The Board of Supervisors spent months figuring out the fate of the Front Royal Golf Course â let it continue to operate as it has for years or shut it down. William and Agnes Carson donated the land for the golf course in 1938 with the stipulation that the county use the property for recreational purposes, including a golf course. The county took over the management of the golf course in 2005 but, in 2018, sought in court to remove the use stipulation as the facility appeared to lose money. The county later decided not to pursue that request. Earlier this year, the Carsonsâ heirs argued in court that the county did not possess the title to the property but, rather, the family only leased the land.
