Petitions for the Consolidated Election to be held on April 4, 2023, are now available in the office of City Clerk Tina Hutchcraft. A Mayor will be elected for a two-year term to fill the unexpired term of Mayor Mike Dreith, and one alderman from each of the city's four wards will be elected for a four-year term. Petition circulation began on September 20th. Filing period for petitions is December 12th through December 19th. The City Clerk's Office hours are 7am to noon and 1pm to 4pm Monday through Friday. The Wayne County Historical Society monthly meeting will be tonight at 6 in the Fairfield Library meeting room. The investigation indicated a Ford pickup truck being driven by Christopher G Sharp, 25 of Saint Elmo, IL, was struck in the rear by Ford Fusion being driven by Madelyn M Rusk, 19 of Olney, IL.
