The Board of Trustees of the Illinois Eastern Community College District reorganized for the next two years, at the regular meeting, Tuesday, April 25, at Lincoln Trail College, Robinson, IL. Following adoption of a resolution for the election returns of April 4, the oath of office was administered to trustees Brenda Culver, Noble; Gary Carter, Fairfield; and Roger Browning, Mt. Carmel. Trustees Culver and Carter were seated for six-year terms expiring in 2029 and Trustee Browning was seated for the remaining two years of a six-year term expiring in 2025. The oath of office was also administered to Guadalupe Amicone, who was seated for a one-year term as student member of the Board of Trustees. A student at Lincoln Trail College, she succeeds student trustee Raechel Hnetkovsky. Wayne Co Sheriffs made two arrests on Tuesday. 19-year-old Kreed Bumpus of Mt Vernon was arrested on a Petition to Revoke warrant stemming from a February 2022 charge of Manufacturing/Delivery/Intent to Deliver Cannabis. Also on Tuesday, Wayne County arrested 65-year-old Fairfield resident Mark Upson on a charge of Criminal Damage to Government Supported Property. Appearing in front of Judge Molt on Tuesday, Brett Wyatt, 37 of Fairfield, entered a plea of guilty in Wayne County Court to a charge of Disorderly Conduct. He was initially arrested on Felony charges on May 17, 2021. 39-year-old Edward Riley of Centralia pleaded guilty in Wayne County Court on Tuesday to a charge of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Sunny Jo Wixom, 41 of Fairfield, pleaded guilty in Wayne County Court to a charge of Unlawful Possession of Meth. She was sentenced to two years of probation. Petitions for the Consolidated Election to be held on April 4, 2023, are now available in the office of City Clerk Tina Hutchcraft. A Mayor will be elected for a two-year term to fill the unexpired term of Mayor Mike Dreith, and one alderman from each of the city's four wards will be elected for a four-year term. Petition circulation began on September 20th. Filing period for petitions is December 12th through December 19th. The City Clerk's Office hours are 7am to noon and 1pm to 4pm Monday through Friday. The Wayne County Historical Society monthly meeting will be tonight at 6 in the Fairfield Library meeting room. A short business meeting will be followed by a discussion with Judith Puckett of the Local Landmarks Project and Country Churches Project. Members and guest are welcome.
