No fewer than five persons have been reportedly killed in two separate attacks on Imandeakpu and Mbatyough Saghev communities in Guma and Gwer West Local Government Areas of Benue state, respectively.
Saturday Vanguard gathered from a source in the area that the attack on Imandeakpu along the Gbajimba Federal University of Agriculture, FUAM-Gbajimba left four persons dead and several others injured.
According to the source, the armed marauders invaded the community at about 11 pm, shooting sporadically and mowed down anyone they caught.
He said, “the attack was unprovoked, the armed herders sneaked into the village when everyone had gone to bed and started shooting sporadically. ....

A 15-year-old student of Benue State University Technical College, Emmanuel Ameh has been electrocuted in the Achussa community of Makurdi the Benue state capital.
The JSS1 student reportedly met his untimely death owing to the alleged negligence of the staff of Jos Electricity Distribution Company, JED, in Makurdi.
Narrating the incident to newsmen on Thursday, uncle to the diseased, Mr Samuel Olokpo, said the victim who until his death lived with his grandmother, Mr Veronica Odoh at Baver Dzeremo street was killed while rolling up service cables carelessly dropped by officials of JED who visited the neighbourhood to disconnect debtors. ....

Barely 48 hours after a truck laden with petrol exploded at Oshigbudu in Agatu Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue state which claimed 12 lives and razed about 100 houses, cars and motorcycles, another petrol laden tanker early Tuesday exploded in the same community.
Though no casualty was recorded in the second incident, several houses were reportedly destroyed in the explosion.
The Agatu Counsel Secretary, Sunday Oteyi and indigene of Oshigbudu who confirmed the accident, said it occurred at about 4 am some metres away from where the earlier explosion took place. ....

Two paramount rulers in Konshisha Local Government Area, LGA, the Vice Chairman of the Council and the Councilor representing Mbagusa/Mbatsev Council Ward where 12 soldiers were killed on Easter day have been handed over to the Police for investigation.
This came as the Benue state government in collaboration with stakeholders in the LGA have also recovered eight of the 12 riffles confiscated from the slain soldiers.
Governor Samuel Ortom who made this known Monday after presiding over an expanded State Security Council meeting in Makurdi which had stakeholders of the LGA in attendance commended them for supporting the government realize the promise he made to the military high command and the federal government that everything would be done to recover the confiscated weapons. ....

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of 12 persons in a tanker explosion accident that occurred at Oshigbudu, Agatu Local Government Area of Benue.
A statement by Mr Oladele Meshach, the FRSC Public Education Officer, Benue Sector Command, on Monday in Makurdi, said the explosion occured on Sunday evening.
Meshach said 12 persons lost their lives during the explosion, while property were also destroyed.
He quoted the Sector Commander, Mr Yakubu Mohammad, as warning all petroleum tanker owners against non-use of “Safety Valves” to guard against spillage of petroleum products when involved in a crash. ....
