Oshawa City Council voted unanimously to move the project forward at its April 26 meeting. Regional Councillor Brian Nicholson says the overall concept is an extremely important addition to the city’s waterfront. “It gives an obvious tribute to Ed Broadbent and his contributions to our city,” he says, adding the sooner the project can be fully completed the better it’ll be for the entire community. ....
Making neighbourhoods safer for pedestrians All-way stops coming to Hillcroft and Masson, Ormond and Naples Posted on April 7, 2021 by oshawaexpress in CITY, NEWS By Courtney Bachar/The Oshawa Express/LJI Reporter The intersection of Hillcroft and Masson streets is getting a new all-way stop thanks to the advocacy of a nine-year-old who cares about the safety of the kids in his neighbourhood. Council approved the recommendation at its most recent council meeting. “I’m really excited to have a stop sign installed and I’m glad you took the safety of kids in my neighbourhood seriously,” says Noah Powell, who reached out to the city about his concerns. ....

BIA Board Chair Ivano Labricciosa says it’s unfortunate and is disappointed in how things rolled out. However, he says he hopes the city will be able to pick up and continue to carry out the services and functions previously performed by the organization. “Our worry is that the city picks up the functions and supports the businesses successfully, and continues with a plan for the downtown as we were envisioning.” ....
