Lower speed limits coming to Fernhill, Glencairn, Rossmount

Councillors are looking out for the safety of Oshawa residents one street at a time.
A speed reduction is coming to Fernhill Boulevard, Glencairn Street, and Rossmount Avenue following correspondence the city received from concerned area residents about vehicles speeding and the safety of pedestrians.
The new speed limit will be 40 km/h, down from 50 km/h.
Regional and City Councillor Tito-Dante Marimpietri says this change will “benefit area residents and their safety concerns moving forward.”
After visiting Fernhill Boulevard to observe, City Councillor Jane Hurst says she understands the concerns of the residents.

Plans are moving forward for the Ed Broadbent Waterfront Park.
Oshawa City Council voted unanimously to move the project forward at its April 26 meeting.
Regional Councillor Brian Nicholson says the overall concept is an extremely important addition to the city’s waterfront.
“It gives an obvious tribute to Ed Broadbent and his contributions to our city,” he says, adding the sooner the project can be fully completed the better it’ll be for the entire community.
Resident calling for all-way stop in his neighbourhood

An Oshawa resident is looking to the city to put an all-way stop in his neighbourhood.
In a letter to the city, Gregory Cusack says they are new residents of the city who moved to the area of Ashgrove Crescent and Tall Pines in November 2020.
They are asking for an all-way stop sign to be implemented at the intersection as a speed deterrent, which is currently a north-southbound stop.
“First, there is an elementary school one block away and we can see children walking to school daily without a safe place to cross the street,” he writes. “Secondly, as an expectant father, I’m hoping one day my children will be able to play on the street without my worrying about the corner we live on being a dangerous one.”
