Elkana said, “On May 18, 2021 and following a sustained monitoring, detectives from Oru West Division successfully rearrested one Cosmas Mbamara ‘m’ of Ohakpu area, Mgbidi, Oru West, who escaped from the Correctional Centre, Owerri on 5th April, 2021 during a jailbreak.

Their arrest followed sustained monitoring by the detectives from Oru West Division, who successfully rearrested one Cosmas Mbamara who hails from Ohakpu area of Mgbidi in Oru West LGA of Imo State and escaped from Correctional Centre, Owerri on 5th April 2021 during a jailbreak. In a statement endorsed and by the New Police Public Relations Officer of Imo Police Command, SP. Bala Elkana said that the suspect was facing trial for murder when he escaped from the correctional Centre. He added that on the same date the Surveillance Team also arrested one Okafor George Chisomo, 35 years old, from Ezeachi Area in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo state.

Also, detectives from Okigwe division rearrested one Levi Nwankwo, 35, of Okigwe LGA on May 13, 2021 in his hideout at Okigwe.
