3 prison escapees rearrested in Imo Police

The Police Command in Imo says it has re-arrested three prisoners who escaped from the Correctional Centre in Owerri, following an attack on the centre on April 5, 2021.
This is contained in a release signed by Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Bala Elkana, and made available to newsmen in Owerri on Wednesday.
Elkana said that one of the rearrested escapees, Cosmas Mbamara of Mgbidi in Oru West Local Government Area of the state was rearrested after sustained monitoring by the police.
He said that Mbamara was facing trial for murder before he escaped from the correctional Centre.

THE police in Imo State on Wednesday said it had rearrested three more fleeing inmates of Owerri Correctional Centre.
The police spokesperson in the state, Bala Elkana, told newsmen that two of the three rearrested inmates were facing murder charges, while the other was charged with kidnapping and armed robbery as of the time they fled from the Owerri correctional centre on April 5, following a jailbreak.
Some of the inmates, who escaped from the Owerri Correctional Centre, were rearrested recently.
Elkana said, “On May 18, 2021 and following a sustained monitoring, detectives from Oru West Division successfully rearrested one Cosmas Mbamara ‘m’ of Ohakpu area, Mgbidi, Oru West, who escaped from the Correctional Centre, Owerri on 5th April, 2021 during a jailbreak.

The Imo State Police Command has re-arrested three suspected escapees from the Correctional Centre, Owerri.
Their arrest followed sustained monitoring by the detectives from Oru West Division, who successfully rearrested one Cosmas Mbamara who hails from Ohakpu area of Mgbidi in Oru West LGA of Imo State and escaped from Correctional Centre, Owerri on 5th April 2021 during a jailbreak.
In a statement endorsed and by the New Police Public Relations Officer of Imo Police Command, SP. Bala Elkana said that the suspect was facing trial for murder when he escaped from the correctional Centre.
He added that on the same date the Surveillance Team also arrested one Okafor George Chisomo, 35 years old, from Ezeachi Area in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo state.

George Okafor, 35, from Ezeachi in Orlu LGA, who was already facing trial, for alleged murder was apprehended by detectives from the Orlu division of the Command. Also, detectives from Okigwe division rearrested one Levi Nwankwo, 35, of Okigwe LGA on May 13, 2021 in his hideout at Okigwe.
