The Imo State Police Command has re-arrested three suspected escapees from the Correctional Centre, Owerri.
Their arrest followed sustained monitoring by the detectives from Oru West Division, who successfully rearrested one Cosmas Mbamara who hails from Ohakpu area of Mgbidi in Oru West LGA of Imo State and escaped from Correctional Centre, Owerri on 5th April 2021 during a jailbreak.
In a statement endorsed and by the New Police Public Relations Officer of Imo Police Command, SP. Bala Elkana said that the suspect was facing trial for murder when he escaped from the correctional Centre.
He added that on the same date the Surveillance Team also arrested one Okafor George Chisomo, 35 years old, from Ezeachi Area in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo state.

Gunmen kidnap Catholic priest in Imo

Unidentified gunmen reportedly kidnapped a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Valentine Oluchukwu Ezeagu, who was on his way to his Aguata, Anambra State, ancestral home, for his father’s burial.
Vanguard also gathered that the priest was kidnapped at Umulolo, Arondizuogu, Ideato North local council area of Imo State, on the Okigwe-Uga axis of the dilapidated federal highway.
A statement dated December 15, 2020, issued and signed by the Secretary-General, Sons of Mary Mother of Mercy Generalate, Ohokobe Afaraukwu, Umuahia, Rev. Fr. Goodluck C. Ajaero confirmed the ugly development.
The release, captioned “Notice of the kidnap of our brother, Rev. Fr. Valentine Oluchukwu Ezeagu”, gave a graphic account of how the priest was kidnapped.
