'I feel good': COVID vaccine hits CQ as first jab given to Dr

The first COVID-19 vaccine in Rockhampton has officially been delivered and on a significant day; exactly a year on from when the city recorded its first positive COVID-19 case.
The AstraZeneca vaccine will be rolled out across Rockhampton with the first vaccines going to those in the Phase 1A category, which are workers on the front line including hospital staff in the public health unit, emergency departments, intensive care units and high dependency units.
The vaccine will move to Gladstone next week and to other parts of Central Queensland in the coming weeks.
By the middle of April, it is expected GP vaccine clinics will be open in the Banana Shire, Central Highlands and on the Capricorn Coast. ....

Hundreds of inspections related to COVID-19 restrictions have been carried out across Central Queensland according to the latest data.
Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation compliance inspectors were appointed as Emergency Officers under the Public Health Act to assist Queensland Health monitor compliance with COVID-19 restrictions.
Across the state, more than 6,000 public health inspections have been carried out by OLGR compliance officers, with 34 infringement notices handed down.
From March 23 2020 to January 24 2021, OLGR inspectors in Central Queensland :
completed 598 public health inspections
completed 38 investigations
issued 140 warnings for key matters including failing to complete COVID Safe training, dancing, exceeding occupant capacity, seating and incomplete or inaccurate record keeping ....

A job for the Director of COVID Response and Quarantine Accommodation has been advertised to be based in Rockhampton with a salary of up to $143,000.
The job advertisement states the director would “provide expert leadership, management, guidance and governance for Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CQHHS) response to the emerging COVID pandemic response, including co-ordination of public health requirements and directions, planning for and implementation of the COVID vaccination program and management of quarantine accommodation services across CQHHS.”
The job pays between $5,230.70 to $5,484.20 per fortnight with an annual salary of $136,465 to $143,079 plus super and benefits. ....

COVID redundancy pushes Rocky woman to launch own business

From moving to Rockhampton to be with her terminally-ill mother to losing her job during the COVID pandemic, Centelle Winstanley has not let life’s challenges get her down.
Last month the 30 year old launched her new business, Fraction Finance, an asset finance brokerage.
Centelle lived in Bajool until she was 10 and then moved to England before coming back to Australia and moving to Townsville where she finished her schooling.
She was working in building design and moved to Brisbane, but when the building downturn hit she found a new job at a car dealership.
Centelle quickly learnt she hated selling cars, but liked the customers service side of things and paperwork and after a year she asked to be transferred to the finance department. ....
