Minnesota COVID ICU Usage Lowest Since Late August

St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The daily count of new COVID-19 cases in Minnesota remained below 1000 on Wednesday.
The Minnesota Department of Health today reported 669 new COVID-19 cases statewide. 36 of the new infections were found in Olmsted County.
24 additional coronavirus related deaths were reported throughout the state. One of them involved an Olmsted County resident in their 90s.
The daily testing total reported today by the state health department was about 17,200. The daily testing positivity rate was about four percent.
State officials also reported another drop in COVID-19 hospitalizations. There are currently 377 Minnesotans hospitalized due to the new viral illness with 77 of the patients requiring treatment in intensive care units. The ICU bed total is the lowest reported since the end of August.

St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The most recent update from the state shows close to 185,000 Minnesotans have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Over 35,000 have been administered a second dose through the state s mass vaccination program. As of Friday, nearly 17,500 people in Olmsted County, or almost 11.5 percent of the county s population had been given at least one dose of the vaccine and about 2500 have received both doses. The Minnesota Department of Health says over 407,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been shipped to Minnesota providers and just under 42-percent of those doses have been administered.
Four More COVID Related Deaths Reported in the Rochester Area

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The latest COVID-19 pandemic report from the Minnesota Department of Health includes the coronavirus-related deaths of four Olmsted County residents.
The deaths, reported to the state health department on Friday, involved two people in their late 80s, one person in their late 70s, and another individual in their late 90s. There have now been 75 coronavirus related deaths in Olmsted County since the beginning of the pandemic.
Overall, the state received 37 reports of deaths involving people who had contracted COVID-19 on Friday. In addition to the Rochester area deaths, Friday s list also included deaths in Wabasha and Mower Counties.
