FREMONT - Last week’s spring vacation took on a new twist for local kids who built toolboxes, baked cookies and grew crystals thanks to Vanguard Career and Technology Center’s Spring Break in a Box program. The program, which was created to replace Vanguard’s annual in-person Winter Camp, provided students in grades five-eight with boxes filled with hands-on supplies related to the center’s skilled trades programs. “It gives them an opportunity to get a glimpse of what career tech is,” said Vanguard Director Dave Buening. “For a young child, it’s an exciting thing.” Boxes were a hit, overwhelming response
