Despite not having any prior experience in the coffee industry, Washington took a leap of faith and immersed himself in the study of roasting. Rugid Grind coffee roasting company launched online two years ago, and the business moved into a storefront with space for roasting equipment on Cherry Park Drive in late 2020.
“I went from not drinking coffee to completely knowing how to roast coffee,” he said. “It does my heart good when people try the coffee and [say] ‘This coffee’s really good,’ . because I haven’t been roasting as long.”
The storefront offers six varieties, including Guatemala Santa Rosa, Indonesia Sumatra Honey, Papua New Guinea Peaberry, Colombian, Ugandan and decaf all of which can also be ordered online and shipped to consumers.

Magnolia ISD closed through Friday
Magnolia ISD announced as of Tuesday that the school district’s offices and schools would be closed Thursday and Friday. All school district facilities will be closed, including the COVID-19 testing site, curbside meals and after school adventures program

Tomball continues trying to restore water pressure:
The city of Tomball Mayor Gretchen Fagan issued a recorded phone message at 4:35 p.m. on Tuesday updating residents on the progress of trying to restore water pressure to residents.
The freezing temperatures have caused electrical outages for millions in Texas, and many people in the Tomball community, she said.

Houston, Jim Mattress Mack McIngvale opened his Gallery Furniture stores at 6006 North Freeway and 7227 West Grand Parkway South in Richmond as warming centers for those in the cold. McIngvale did a similar move after residents needed a place to stay in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in 2017.
While officials said the George R. Brown Convention Center was opened for people who are homeless and needed a place to stay, it has since reached the maximum capacity of 200 people. Now, closer to 800 people are being sheltered there. Instead, the mayor s office is asking that people call the city s 311 line to find out what facilities are open.
