Protests, war, hurricanes, pandemic: Catholic sisters exemplify courage through it all

Recent images of Catholic sisters underscore one hallmark trait of women religious: courage.
One is of Sr. Ann Nu Thawng kneeling before armed forces in Myanmar, pleading with them not to shoot protesters. The military didn t open fire, and about 100 protesters took refuge in the convent of her Sisters of St. Francis Xavier community because of her bravery.
Another is of Sr. Luma Khudher walking amid the rubble in Qaraqosh, Iraq, as she and the other Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena struggle to rebuild six years after that area near Mosul was liberated from the Islamic State group. They were eagerly awaiting Pope Francis March 5-8 visit to Iraq, hoping it would bring attention to the suffering in the region. ....

Catholic groups announce virtual pilgrimage to Holy Land

Washington D.C., Oct 3, 2019 / 02:30 pm (CNA).- The Holy See has announced that Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio of Brooklyn will lead an Apostolic Visitation of the Diocese of Buffalo.
The visitation, a canonical inspection and fact-finding mission, was ordered by Cardinal Marc Ouellet of the Congregation of Bishops in Rome, the Vatican department responsible for overseeing the personal conduct of bishops.
A notice issued by the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington, DC, on Thursday confirmed that the visitation was “non-judicial and non-administrative,” meaning that no formal charges are currently being considered against the scandal-plagued Bishop Richard Malone of Buffalo.

Our Mission
Our Archives serves the needs of the Archdiocese of Regina in collecting and preserving its official and historical records. These records reflect the work of the Church in the Archdiocese, and are available to its own officers and personnel for purposes related to its ministry.
Our Holdings
The Archives collection contains various types of records with different restrictions on access, in order to respect the confidentiality of the records. There are documents dating back to the late 1800s. Historical records include: administration records, archbishops papers, chancery records, parish records, some early sacramental records, and photographs. At this time, the work of classifying and describing our holdings is still in progress. Once records have been processed, they may become available for research purposes. ....
