And already in its first showdown with president obama lawmakers were sworn in on capitol hill for a new term. [ gavel ] senate will come to order. For the first time in eight years the republicans control the senate and the house. The first item, the keystone pipeline. The white house has come out swinging saying president obama will not sign it. And there was a lot of celebration today tony, as members of congress soaked in this experience, many of them surrounded by family members and some here for the first time. Two more republican senators mike lee of utah, jerry moran of kansas, both together say they are going to vote no to advance the bill. They join the two other republican no votes. Collins of michigan, rand paul of context, that means despite having the majority in the Senate Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell now does not have the votes he needs to move this legislation forward.
