BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â Whatâs going on with the Buffalo school speed zone cameras?
According to the Buffalo Common Council, the cameras were supposed to be turned off after the council voted to stop using the cameras, and the amendment was sent to the Mayorâs office in late May.
According to Councilmember Rasheed Wyatt, as of June 15, the cameras should have been turned off.
âPeople are still getting tickets,â he said
Liam McMahon, who lives in the Elmwood Village says he just got one in the mail.
If you are one of the hundreds of drivers recently ticketed to appear in Buffalo Traffic Court this could be good news.
Buffalo City Traffic Court is currently the focus of an investigation by lawmakers according to a story aired on WIVB-TV, which could ultimately lead to hundreds of violations being dismissed. The issue is the allegations that a hearing officer was acting as prosecutor, judge, and jury.
This is the latest controversy involving the cameras located in Buffalo school zones. City officials conceded last year that many of the school zone violations were not getting processed on time, resulting in thousands being dismissed.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW-TV) â Buffalo Common Council President Darius Pridgen said the number of complaints to councilmembers about the school zone camera demonstration project continues to grow.
Among the complaints, said Pridgen, are people upset with getting duplicate tickets, an inability to reach anyone when calling to question charges or schedule a hearing, the $50 cost per ticket, beacons not working, and concerns that the cameras are on when schools are off.
