The militant group now controls all the other major cities in afghanistan, and look to be on the verge of toppling the afghan government. The arrival of the taliban has sparked panic in the city with a populuation of more than four million, as well as tens of thousands of internally displaced afghans. People have been rushing to embassies for visas and stockpiling food. These pictures filmed by the bbc in kabul show people attempting to leave the city.
