Lesson for his own about quitting is getting attention on social media. Skier posted a video on instagram of his son running uphill after he decided to quit the soccer team. The Caption Reading and part, consequences enforcing is not my favorite part of parenting but learning from them is important. This was about so much more than a game of soccer, its teaching our kids never to quit. First of all, new timeslot but same great discussion. Felt late . Growing up in primetime, exciting. Good To Be With You and i think its a great topic to start with. A lot of us know a great skier, and this is a lesson hes posting about his son who with the soccer team and posted this video on instagram and its causing an outcry for folks saying this punishment having to run up the hill is too harsh. I know youve got two teenage girls, what you think, too harsh or appropriate . Of the offer of mean guys for a better america, i think i may have written the book on this. I think so. I love this video. What feature film does it remind you of . Anyone . Forrest gump. Thank you. I think he has boots on or something, it reminds me of forrest, run, forest, run. Its a great video and bodhi miller, he posted this but told us his son was the one who asked for it, he said i didnt run hard enough so hes a self starter, is proud of him and proud dad and put the tape on there and he said it was his sons idea but force the issue a little bit. Is and that the problem that it was the sons idea . I love the idea of disciplining your children and making sure to teach them how to push themselves harder. If its the kids idea himself, he needs it. Bodhi miller obviously, hes got lots of kids, a high work ethic himself and i feel if he imparts that to his children he doesnt have to do the punishment because the kids are selfstarters. I love the controversy online, it was too harsh and physical punishment is wrong and mollie rosen like not enough. [laughter] its amazing my kids tell me their friends think we are the toughest parents. [laughter] lets look at what he actually said. We have a quote here, he says for those concerned the hill running was his idea, he said he didnt run during the game, the kid is next level so youve got to love that. The kid doesnt want during the game. To be honest, the hill didnt look that big. It is tough to run uphill but it isnt a giant hill. Kids know when theyve given up too early, they want to feel good what theyve done and when we lowered standards so they get as or all ribbons, they know they havent done what they need to. I think also what he said earlier about this is the toughest part of being a parent, disciplining and you know that too well but you have to because if you dont, what ends up happening . They end up in prison. [laughter] there is a fine line, how do you balance that . You want them to be able to see through to the end and you are not being so tough that they lose up. A lot of people are weighing in, this is from the former cfo of levis. You might rumor she was forced to step down for decided to step down because she was particularly outspoken about schools being closed during the pandemic. Its listen. They have to know is full of hard knocks and people will say things you like and you will be okay, if you dont study, youll get a bad grade and maybe study harder next time, the parents shouldnt margin and demand the great be changed but this is what we are dealing with. On the left primarily in large cities and the lead parent clusters, this Helicopter Parenting that protects the child from any adverse events, its not possible and you will inevitably raise children that think its a great injustice. She wasnt particularly talking about the situation with bodhi miller but she was talking about parenting in general but how about this idea that when you make a commitment to something you should stick with it and i know you are a big Sports Guy And sports is about making a commitment. I am a sports fan and despite my incredible physique, i was in shock it wasnt a great athlete, that something i did quick because i wasnt good at it, i much prefer being in the stands at this age of course but i am the only nonparent at this table but i have great parents and growing up, my dad is probably watching right now and hes going to appreciate this moment, hell be like finally, he would tell us constantly to persevere, he would use that word, just say the word, first syllable and we like here it comes. Perseverance but for the most part, he was right, he instilled that in me and my siblings and we will have those values today. The one thing i do want to go back to the parents is this. Is there a time like never quit i think sometimes you should quit certain things, not just bad habits but some things are right for you, is there a role for a parent to say maybe this isnt working out so well, maybe we can think about Something Else or do you let the dream go and die on its own . What you think about that . Do you tell your kids, dad told him, persevere or is there a time when you say youre not good at this, maybe think about a different sport . I love his advice, persevere. Thats the way my dad was, he was tough in general and tough on values but didnt care about specific things, im not a hawk on rates with my own kids nor do i force them to study, i say you can study if you want or sit down and watch the office on tv but you will have to deal with the great, they have to be responsible for their own grades. I dont love this push of everyone have to get straight as and get into a good college, i dont think good colleges are good. The thing that bothers me most about youth is there to pressure but not enough values, they are pressured to get to a certain level of achievement and the world has gone mad. What about this notion Jennifer Cyrus talking about being a Helicopter Parent . We see so much about that and what it is easy to fall into that, you have to take a step back in the your kids manage their life. I dont know if its my mother a teacher but i hear stories about a great isnt what a parent would have wanted what they go and try to get the greatest change for the child, that doesnt help the child and its not a good lesson, they need to learn they are not going to get straight as or accomplish what they want or even sometimes you have mean bosses or teachers and its something to deal with. Can you imagine your parents going and asking them to change your grade . That is common today. They would go in the other direction. Extra assignments. The blaming of teachers in this case like its your fault my kid didnt do a thing i wanted them to do. I think that is backwards. Theres probably some cases where it is true but mostly its like shape up, kid not changed the standards teacher. A different world. Good discussion on that. Thank you for the video. Coming up on the Big Weekend Show, get used to shopping under lock and key, the push to stop stealing thats changing store aisles everywhere. Thats next. Welcome back to the Big Weekend Show. Shopping under lock and key maybe the new reality as thieves get away with feeling good over and over from stores like cvs and walgreens. The latter Chain Debuting the new antitheft store this week were almost everything is lockdown. Customers are only allowed to talk to themselves into of the aisles. The rest of the store locked up, kiosks. This new experience is about technology. They frame it as exciting. Heres a quote to a local news affiliate, walgreens testing another experience at the store. Technologies and practices to ask enhance spaces of customers and team members and continue to offer Retail Products and Pharmacy Services with a new look and feel that focuses on shopping digitally for convenience even though walgreens didnt mention anything about Theft Problems in the state, they are dealing with a big uptick in shoplifting. Even Security Guards who try to intervene and stop criminals like this one in New York City getting arrested themselves. Here is the New York Post cover today, Plunder Lock And Key about how everything in these stores in New York City is locked up chocolate to underwear to dish soap and ice cream and i love the pr teams attempt being like this fresh and new and exciting . Everything is not except for two aisles not accessible to customers. Got to give them props for trying i guess. I guess you dont want to say our stores are a hell hole where nobody can feel safe and thieves running rampant so you have to go with Something Else but it is insulting to say these things clearly been done because of the crime hitting downtown and major cities across america something to be happy about. It is decreased quality of experience the shopper, thats what happens when you have a breakdown of Law And Order in society and its good if we can acknowledge that. The example we were talking about from chicago and this New York Post cover is New York City, i saw was the same story in San Francisco so coast to coast and middle of the country is becoming a thing. In new york there was a story in april where nypd put out crime stats in the city and if found according to the official data, about one third, one in three all shoplifting arrests in the city were from the same 327 people. Thousands of arrests, a third of shoplifting arrests, a handful relatively of people, i dont know, maybe im oldfashioned but it seems perhaps the way to deal with these problems is not to force effectively retailers to lock Everything Up but instead locked the people up. You are oldfashioned, guide but maybe that is the answer and it this is something that is correctable no one is moving to correct it. The cities have completely given up on Law And Order but can i reveal something that was said during the break . Somebody said is not their fault, walgreens. It is their fault. Its the stores and american corporations have built this into their business. They take out Insurance Policies and say we are going to do a write off for this much inventory and allow this to happen. They also have policies in the companys that say you cannot shop Stop Shoplifters and shoplifters know that so everyone is in this and the retailers could have been a place to go during covid when they shut the country down and you had people like jeff bezos making sure everyone was Shopping Home Living in the bubble. Maybe we could have gone to stores and had a real experience but instead, the stores were as bad as everyone with the dumb masks and stupid arrows on the ground and everything. When i was a kid the only time they had anything behind a barrier was cassette tapes in the record store because they were small enough to fit in a teens pocket so they would have them behind the guard. Then they had stores like cvs for razor blades and things like that. Now everything is behind there and cant control their inventory at all. I do think it is their fault, not just them but our entire culture, weve given up. During the 2020 blm rise, corporations gave Something Like 80 billing dollars to defend Police Efforts and other things that helped contribute to the breakdown. By the way when you build in a crime taxes to your business model, it raises prices of everything and people are dealing with inflation so is like that on that on that and heres the other thing, from a convenient feel, i was thinking a few years ago, what stuff would be behind plastic cards like perfumes, high end items more expensive, thats where i would go to something and get the key. Imagine eating that for most goods in the entire store, how will this help brickandmortar locations survive . Here in the digital revolution, they look at the doorstep, why would you show up to a store if this is the experience . Its not convenient, its inconvenient and its funny walgreens said its an enhanced experience, how is it enhanced . To toms. About corporations building in this safety net for their products, its like shoplifting has almost become the norm and you wonder, when are people going to revolt about this . When will people say theyve had enough . Would demand different policies for public safety. We have a breakdown at lower levels of crime where its basically about theres an effect more serious crime increases because theres a signal sent to society that we dont care about laws and enforcing them so its dangerous not just inconvenient, it dangers in a lot of cases. Mollie, you can debate some of this, i tend to agree with tom, you can be pointing fingers at retailers themselves but youre trying to do business, your in california where it effectively legal to shoplift under a certain threshold of dollars, you either pack up and leave completely which they are shutting a lot of stores more try to stay and compete the best you can. I think most blame goes on the government. Big government in these cities is in jeopardy. Look at walgreens or a different outlet non city center, they wont have these antitheft measures that relates to the government, its about people are voting so people in cities need to care more about the culture they are creating and we need a more honest and accurate media to report truthfully about crime and what leads to crime and how to improve the situ situation. The brickandmortar stores, they were already having trouble before the pandemic. This is their death now. It could be and its not mysterious or an accident, not beyond peoples control, it is policy. Both the store and government level. Coming up, another bump provided. Look over the following in the president s tumble including a new take from former Biden Insider truly bizarre. We will tell you what she said when the Big Weekend Show continues straight ahead. Beautiful shot in the New York City skylines, we can show. Another bump the biden, President Biden things his head on the way out going one hours after the tumble at the air force Academy Graduation ceremony. Biden claiming he got sandbagged when he fell on the stage and then the white house trying to explain the fall was totally normal. Heres kareem john here stumbling herself. Make sure we cleared the record, he tripped over his handbag on the stage and briefly stripped and got up and got back up and continued what he was there to do. No surprise the media was quick to downplay his fall. She and am reminding everyone hes fine in your headline. A similar reaction from his former Press Secretary who excused the fall totally normal behavior. Then she said the fact that biden is white and older is comforting to republicans. Listen to this. Cant make an extreme, cant make him offensive. He is a white man is older so is comfortable. Many in their face but also they have underestimated him, hes always been underestimated, a chip on his shoulder because of what. Theyre trying to throw spaghetti up at the wall to take him down so they figured it out. Okay. A lot to talk about. I just happened to be working on america reports this past week when the call happened so we covered almost in real time just a few minutes later and what i said at the time was just shaken the hand, hands of 900 cadets so okay, he got a little dizzy and fell in maybe anybody would have fallen, he did get right back up but the context of the fact that hes an older president and there are already questions about his age and stability, its not a good book. It was difficult to watch, im glad hes okay and got up fairly quickly is one of many such falls we seen and later that day he bangs his head out of marine one but its the mental situation people are concerned about and we have a media that will work hard to make it sound like its no big deal hes having stumble, physical or verbal but is something the whole world can see but the world doesnt care about what Corporate Media says that hes okay. They wonder whos really in charge, they are concerned about his mental situation into something a lot of americans are worried about and democrats their nominee. Lets look at the way the media is covering it, look at this headline. Bidens trip and fall, he said i was sandbagged. Okay. Heres what it mentioned in the article, the question is whether mr. Biden is in the process of sandbagging Democrat Country by running for reelection at his advanced age, americans can be thankful he wasnt hurt this week. Would he get up so quickly if he felt in 2025 . That is a great question and a lot of us might remember there was a moment years back when President Trump had difficulty walking down a few steps that he was on stage, ramp, thank you. He walked a little gingerly and the media were all over him for this but this week President Trump reacted to President Bidens fall and then recounted how he was treated when he walked gingerly down this ramp. Said. We are representing the country. I said im not falling, like to be towed down and that was a mistake. I got killed and then they covered the speech. Quick reaction to President Trump, does he have points . A funny answer which is one of his strengths, thats funny. He turns this tough moment into let me talk about myself at the tippy toe, the stories longer, he says theres this big military guy with big boot, hang onto you and it was highly entertaining. I am less than half the president s age and if i didnt see a sandbagged next to me and started walking, i would trip and fall. Ive hit my head on planes far too often. These things happen. I think the problem is when they happen often enough and there are alre
