The Colorado Hebrew Chorale announces that Miryam (Mimi) Raizen will present another installment of “From Tin Pan Alley Cats to the Great White Way: Jewish Composers of the American Musical” on Sunday, July 11, 2021, 7:30 pm on Zoom. Miryam “Mimi” Raizen In honor of American Independence Day, Mimi will present a special “ 1776” session and will talk about its composer Peter Stone and his career. Besides doing a more significant dive into “ 1776” itself and many of the show’s songs, Miryam will discuss President Nixon’s influence on the film version. She also plans to look at the history of Jews who were involved with the founding fathers and the early federal period, including George Washington’s 1790 letter to the Touro Synagogue in Newport, Rhode Island. ....
L’Chaim – A Taste of Jewish Music from – Anywhere!” The new series will offer programs on the fourth Monday of each month, 7:30 pm MDT on Zoom through Oct. 25. The first program will take place on Monday April 26 and will feature Adrienne Suson who will present L’Chaim from – Summer Camp! On Monday, May 24 she will present L’Chaim from Adrienne (“Auntie A”) Suson Adrienne (“Auntie A”) Suson is a licensed “Rhythm & Ruach” facilitator who has been involved with Synagogue life, Jewish education, Jewish music and love for children since her own childhood. She currently lives in Silver Spring, Maryland where she is the program director at her (rabbi) brother’s congregation, Congregation ....
“By March 12, everything was shut down,” says Peer, the founder and musical director of Kol Nashim, the women’s choir within the Colorado Hebrew Chorale. “To cancel was devastating.” Undeterred, Peer says organizers spent the better part of the year putting together an online version of the event, which will stream on March 14. Over the past year, she and her choir have acclimated to the virtual world, hosting classes and practices through Zoom calls.
