As always i want to thank the library and the Public Library foundation for the ongoing support of free cultural events through the wisconsin book festival. It is one of the great pleasures of this year for me that we are able to do these events virtually and ring is altogether even if we cant be all together. But we also have been expanded. There are many people from madison, many people from wisconsin with people from across the nation and across the globe so that is one small wonderful thing that has occurred because of the pandemic. Hi kathie. So nice to meet you. Nice to meet you too. I enjoyed your book. Thank you. I would like to start this interview by talking a little bit about you. I also would like the audience to hear the story which honestly which really offended me. Which is in your introduction. You got a note from a professor claiming he would never be a political scientist. Can you say little bit about that . Speech i put that in the book because when i was in college i struggled with what i wanted to major in. I wanted about going into science, humanities or social science. And i finally decided on social science because i found those questions much more interesting comment engaging in urgent for me. My First Political science course we read all of the great political philosophers from plato on up. They were all asking the question, what is justice . What is Good Government . How can you ....
Judges, continuing to push, probably will look to expand the circuit courts if he wins a second term. Lots of people are talking about wanting to do that and appoint a lot more judges especially if the Senate Majority holds. I think youll see him look to get a covid package. Thats much more to his liking than the ones that were being proposed by nancy pelosi and hes going to have to decide from a total perspective and hell continue on the same path from tone, the question will be for him what can he accomplish assuming a Democratic House if he continues that way . And thats going to be his monumental decision. What legacy does he want or does he move away from it like many second term president s and move completely to Foreign Policy and try to accomplish something there.
