House Speaker Tim Moore delayed the override votes in his chamber until Aug. 16. The Senate didn't schedule any votes. No one updated where the passage of a state budget stands.
House Speaker Tim Moore delayed until Aug. 15 when members might vote again. Senate Leader Phil Berger has no votes scheduled at least until late next week. Work on the budget is "moving along." Gov. Roy Cooper's vetoes on controversial bills such as Parents Bill of Rights and transgender issues stand for a while longer.
Speaker Tim Moore said there would almost certainly be no votes before Aug. 7, including on a new biennial budget and four bills that Gov. Roy Cooper has vetoed. The Senate adjourned without scheduling votes, either, leading to a statement about how much the delays were costing the state.
The House might or might vote on Wednesday but the Senate isn't scheduled to vote when it reconvenes on Thursday. There are numerous vetoes, bills and concurrences to be addressed, including the seat on the Guilford County Board of Education.
