Shop local and support farmers is the message in Montgomery


Farmhouse Breakfast
Farmhouse Breakfast Week is an annual highlight for the Farmers Union of Wales, showcasing all that is the best in Welsh and local farming.
During the week, farmers sit around kitchen tables with friends, family and neighbours for a convivial breakfast, chat and a chance to compare notes.
Despite the usual way of running the campaign not being possible this year, and not to be deterred by another national lock-down, local organic dairy farmer Glenn Lloyd and family sat down to a delicious breakfast sourced entirely locally.
Glenn has himself recently established the thriving Daisy Bank organic milk business, supplying milk in returnable glass bottles, setting up local refill points and vending machines for milk, and producing a new line of naturally flavoured milks. ....

Cold weather proves no barrier to Montgomery children


Denice takes part in historic online Plygain event
Plygain services where people come together to celebrate the festive season with traditional carols across Wales had to be different this year because of the pandemic.
Instead of gathering, singers and groups were encouraged to submit a recording of their own performance and these were put together into two films, and shared as virtual Plygain across social media on December 20 and January 3.
One of those taking part was Denice Jaunzens from Montgomery who said: “I had to consider carefully, as you cannot sing a song that someone else has already chosen.
“It was a worthwhile challenge and it’s an honour to play a part in maintaining this tradition as a Welsh learner. I was very grateful to the organisers of the online format. ....
