Labour insists it’s ‘proud of country’ following leaked messages
WARRINGTON Labour insists it is ‘proud of our country’ after controversial messages were leaked.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the leaked messages from the Labour WhatsApp group were posted in response to a debate about flying the Union flag.
Former Warrington South MP Faisal Rashid – who is standing as a candidate in the all-out elections in May – started the conversation by posting a screenshot from ITV’s Good Morning Britain, which was asking: “Should Union flags fly every day? Are flags a sign of unity and patriotism or do they divide us?” ....

THE roll-out of the coronavirus vaccination programme continues in Warrington, with unpaid or informal carers are now eligible for a jab.
More than 60,000 people have received their first dose of the vaccine in the town as the programme enters its next phase.
Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group and GP practices are now offering appointments for the vaccine to specific groups of unpaid and informal carers.
At present, carers who qualify at this time are only those who are eligible for a carer’s allowance or those who are the sole or primary carer of an elderly or disabled person who is at increased risk of Covid-19 mortality, and therefore clinically vulnerable. ....

Covid carers sought to help Warrington's most vulnerable

A RECRUITMENT drive has been launched to find care workers who can provide support for some of Warrington’s most vulnerable people during the coronavirus pandemic.
Working in adult social care can be challenging, but it is regarded as being one of the most rewarding professions to be involved in.
The Care Hero Campaign, which originally launched in April 2020 during the first coronavirus wave, aims to bring more people into the care sector so that staffing levels can match current and future demand.
With the pandemic continuing to put increased pressure on hospital wards and social care services, Warrington Borough Council is keen to recruit even more carers. ....

Delight after £11m apartment site for over 55s opens

Housing group Torus has welcomed residents to its latest extra care scheme in Longbarn, Harpers Green.
The development, on Harpers Road, has transformed the site of the former Bayleaf restaurant and provides people aged 55 and over with secure, modern and affordable one and two-bedroom apartments for rent or shared ownership.
Torus says a huge benefit of extra care complexes is that residents retain their independence but have the peace of mind that flexible on-site care is available if and when needed.
Care at Harpers Green has been funded and commissioned by Warrington Borough Council and will be provided by national charity and Warrington-based Making Space. ....
