That is the message from Winchester City Council, with consultation set to begin in May.
A recent town forum heard that all residents will have their say on the matter – and not just those living in the city.
Speaking at the forum Cllr Eleanor Bell said: There is a lot of interest about the North Walls and River Park area. Leaving the building aside for now, what is there in terms of provision?
A lot of people are interested in perhaps seeing open water swimming, possibly a lido, possibly a tent-only campsite, even a youth hostel – all sorts of provision that needs further discussion. We need to look beyond cutting the grass and maintaining the building. ....

Winchester Lib Dems come under fire over local plan

WINCHESTER Conservatives have criticised the Liberal Democrats over the emerging local plan.
They say the Lib Dems have refused to “rule out” hugely controversial proposals for new towns at Royaldown between Oliver’s Battery and Hursley, and Micheldever Station.
The Lib Dems say the inclusion of both proposals on a developers’ wish list does not indicate their support.
The SHELAA lists must be regularly drawn up and both were on the list when the Conservatives controlled the city council until May 2020.
Local authorities across the South were expecting to have to plan for far more housing after the Government published a white paper on planning last autumn. ....

Winchester City Council to set up new health board

EVERY cloud has a silver lining – or so says Winchester City Council s health and environment committee.
It had been working closely with public health organisations throughout the pandemic and will now set up a group to ensure this continues.
The Health and Wellbeing board will work from the ground up, listening to bodies from across the district.
Cllr Jackie Porter said: Some good things really did come out of Covid. Foodbanks extended their help to the Meon Valley, Waterlooville and Alresford.
The council worked very closely with local health bodies – a strength that we hope to retain with this new board. ....
