Councillor 'pushing hard' for improvements after residents highlight 'dangerous' pedestrian route

A MIDDLESBROUGH councillor says he is “pushing as hard as he can” for footpath improvements after residents claimed they were taking their lives into their hands attempting to cross a busy roundabout.
Cllr David Coupe said he understood the frustration being expressed by residents in his Stainton ward who have complained about the lack of a continuous pedestrian route through to Brookfield and Acklam with some choosing to cross a busy slip road onto the A174 Parkway, which leads off the Stainton Way/Low Lane roundabout.
Hundreds of new homes have been built to the south of Middlesbrough in recent years at developments including Rose Cottage in Stainton and nearby Brookfield Woods, Kingsbrook Wood and Brookland Park, off Low Lane, creating pressure for infrastructure improvements. ....

Applicant Avant Homes is to develop land on the former St David s Catholic School, which was demolished after it closed its doors more than a decade ago.
The site - at the end of St David s Way, off the busy Hall Drive which is home to a secondary school and two football clubs - has remained empty ever since.
