off .. we start with developing news in south baltimore -a man is dead after what appears to be an attempted car theft. theft.it happened at this warehouse on hollins ferry road this afternoon. investigators say two employees saw the suspect breaking into one of their cars.when they attempted to stop him - the suspect jumped into his own vehicle and drove away . one of the employees was run over by the suspect s vehicle, the other employee we believe was dragged a short distance. to the hospital -the victim who was run over has died. police found what they believe is the suspects vehicle - tonight, one person is in custody. 3 we have breaking news in southwest baltimore police responded to a shooting and possible home invasion on north hilton street .. detectives are on he scene . and police are interviewing witnesses.we ll have more information when it is available. he was wanted by the f-b-i. for more than a dozen violent crimes.but tonight. the accused eas ....
public s help. police tell fox 5 it was an anonymous tip that led investigators to the suspects. criminal profiler pat brown said not a moment too soon. usually these cases go unsolved forever and we know this guy was still out this active and he needed to be caught. reporter: police say the suspect dubbed the east coast rapist has struck in at least four states from virginia to rhode island attacking more than a dozen women. it all began in prince george s county in 1997. his last known attack? halloween night 2009 prince william county. police there say he forced three teenage girls into a ravine at begin point, raped two of them. the third use at gunpoint, raped two of them. the third used a cell phone to call for help. over the years investigators put together composite sketches but it took a while to link together the cases. they eventually found in each case the suspect left behind his dna. one interesting thing is this particular offender left dna all ove ....
on halloween night raping all three of them behind a shopping center in dale city. it was just a couple weeks ago that police set up a website trying to get information on this man and it was called the east coast rapist website that went up. we did a story about it and we were told there were a number of hits, 44,000 hits within 12 hours of people taking a look at that site. they put billboards up along the highways. now we don t know if the break in this case of fingering that man came via that website or tips to that website. we are working on that. it was dna that finally broke this case for the police. shawn. paul, stay on top of the case for us, thank you. a police involved shooting in prince georges county. sky fox over the scene minutes ago at woodyard. all we know at this point is that police shot a suspect. we are told no officers were hit. we have a crew headed to the scene. we will update you with new developments right here and on myfoxdc.com. another ....

40-year-old apartment building kept the smoky fire confined to the apartment where it began. filling the unit with toxic deadly air. ahmad wilson was driving through the intersection of 18th and gail street northeast when he heard children screaming. i just seen black smoke coming out, and the lady was, like, the kids were screaming. so i got out of my car, got out and tried to break the glass. as i broke the glass, the smoke was too much to come out to go in. it kind of it was bad, you know. we heard the kids stop screaming. by that time the fire department was here. reporter: inside the apartment, firefighters found a little boy, 4 years old. he was unconscious. he was rushed to the hospital along with a woman whose relationship to the children is not clear. we also have an adult female maybe in her late 20s, maybe 30 years old who has burns to her hands, possibly some smoke inhalation and some other assorted injuries. presumably she attempted to go back into ....
