City Police Commissioner Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal on Monday said 7,994 missing children were traced and reunited with their parents in Chennai in the last 10 years. Efforts are on to trace 118 missing children.
“From 2010 till date, 8,112 cases of missing children were registered in Chennai city, of which 7,994 children were traced. Though it is a high percentage of success, it is still a matter of great concern that 118 children remain missing,” said Mr. Aggarwal at the launch of Operation Smile-2021 programme to rescue and rehabilitate missing children. Special teams would take maximum effort to trace the missing children. ....

An inspector of police with the All Women Police, Thousands Lights Station, has been placed under suspension following a criminal case against her on charges of extorting money from an accused for facilitating his discharge from a case.
Police said T.V. Rajasimman Naidu filed a petition with the Metropolitan Magistrate in Egmore seeking to register a case against the woman inspector, Gnanaselvam, and two other women. Following the court’s direction, Inspector Gnanaselvam, Umarani of Chennai and K.M. Vishnupriya of Hyderabad were booked by the Thousand Lights Police under IPC S ....

City Police Commissioner Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal and other police officers on Friday celebrated a
samathuva Pongal, with people from all walks of life in Namasivayapuram, Choolaimedu.
Mr. Aggarwal began the celebrations by dropping jaggery and rice in a boiling pongal pot, surrounded by officers and transpersons. Folk dances and traditional martial arts were performed on the occasion.
Pongal celebrations were held at the Rajarathinam Stadium, where constables recently joined the Armed Reserve Unit. In the Washermenpet police district, Mr. Aggarwal and other officers participated in a programme conducted by the police, with members of boys’ and girls’ clubs in north Chennai. ....
