WORTHINGTON In a Tuesday evening meeting that lasted a little less than 15 minutes, the Worthington Planning Commission agreed to forward a written opinion to the Worthington City Council regarding Redevelopment Projects 6 and 7.
The commission’s unanimous vote followed a recommendation from city staff and confirms the projects “conform to a general plan for the development of the locality as a whole,” Worthington Assistant City Administrator/Director of Economic Development Jason Brisson said.
“We want to fit these into the comprehensive plan, and this says that we’re not putting residential where it shouldn’t be,” Brisson explained Tuesday to Planning Commission members. ....

WORTHINGTON Picking up where it left off following a pair of meetings last month, the Worthington Planning Commission on Tuesday night approved a preliminary plat for the city’s planned Cecilee Addition.
During a Jan. 5 Planning Commission meeting, members discussed the preliminary plat and ultimately opted to table recommending its approval until having a joint session with the city council. Council members, in a joint discussion with commission members during a Jan. 20 council meeting, indicated their preference for a new park the reason for the commission’s delay earlier in the month as part of the project. ....

WORTHINGTON
It appears a new neighborhood park will be part of the city’s planned Cecilee Addition, given the consensus opinion during Wednesday afternoon’s special Worthington City Council meeting.
City council members, in a joint discussion with members of the Worthington Planning Commission, indicated their preference for a new park as part of the project. While three alternative locations for the park were presented, a final site was not determined though one of the three choices appears to be a clear favorite. ....

WORTHINGTON A 2021 property tax levy of $5,052,541 a 4% increase over 2020 was approved by the Worthington City Council in the midst of a flurry of agenda items Monday night.
The levy includes a general purpose tax levy of $3,929,921 and special tax levies of $1,122,620, Worthington City Administrator Steve Robinson noted during his presentation of the city’s Truth in Taxation hearing. Among the special tax levies are Economic Development Tax abatements of $25,000. ....
