The vote was 952-811 in favor of Hedrick. About 34% of registered voters cast ballots.
“I want to thank all of the City of Groton voters that have supported me during this election,” said Hedrick, who waged a grassroots write-in campaign after losing the Democratic primary in March to Bumgardner by five votes. “I want to congratulate my opponent for a hard-fought battle both of them and ask for everyone’s support in reuniting the Democratic Party, and I look forward to continuing to lead the City of Groton into the future.”

I was uncomfortable and disappointed when Aundré Bumgardner grouped me with all other Republicans who voted for fornmer President Trump as “racist.” I was equally uncomfortable when he then called me and other Republicans associating with City of Groton Mayor Keith Hedrick as being in “collusion.” The definition of collusion is a deceitful agreement or secret cooperation between two or more parties to limit open competition by deceiving, misleading or defrauding others for an illegal purpose.
Someone please ask Aundré what deceitful and illegal purpose is he referring to? Are Republicans who support him also in collusion? Aundré went so far as to mislead voters in believing the City of Groton Republican Committee was assisting Hedrick with his write-in mayoral campaign, which the CGRC is neither supporting nor has any involvement.
