The City of Cotter has temporarily closed the blue foot bridge at Big Spring Park, the city announced on social media.
The bridge will remain closed until repairs can be made to address the erosion and washout areas on either end of the bridge, the city said.
“It’s noting dangerous or that the bridge is unsafe. It’s just that you can’t take that chance as a city,” Mayor Mac Caradine said.
The bridge, which is owned by the City of Cotter, was closed late last week following the recommendation of personnel with the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission.
If approved, voting on the measure would be on the ballot on May 11.
In other business, the Cotter City Council is facing a lengthy agenda, with 11 items of new business.
Among the items of new business are resolutions to
– Adopt the revised 2020 budget
– Establish a council member code of conduct
– Approve early payoff of loan with the Arkansas Development Finance Authority for 2003 sewer plant expansion, and
– Consider making a grant application to Blue and You Foundation for playground equipment for Big Spring Park and/or Warrior Park.
Under the information section of the agenda, there are eight items including
– Recognizing Melissa Gray for 10 years of service as the city’s bookkeeper and
