Gloversville purchases foreclosed houses for $145K | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS Shares0 GLOVERSVILLE – The Common Council Tuesday night unanimously approved purchasing 10 foreclosed properties for a total of $145,404 from Fulton County in what Mayor Vince DeSantis called a “watershed” moment in the city’s battle against blighted properties. “These are properties that were foreclosed on in 2020,” DeSantis said. “Out of all of the properties that were foreclosed on [in Gloversville] there were only 22 of them, and only 13 of them were houses, the others were vacant lots or commercial properties. So, we offered to make the county whole for all of the taxes and penalties on these properties over the past three years. The city will now benefit from having control over these properties.” ....
[email protected] GLOVERSVILLE Senior city residents with existing income-based property tax exemptions will not have to file for renewal for 2021 under an executive order signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo that has been enacted by the city. The Common Council during the Dec. 22 meeting approved an emergency resolution authorizing the city assessor to use 2020 income records for all senior income-based exemption eligible residents for the 2021 assessment roll. The action by the city was necessary to opt in to an executive order signed by the governor on Dec. 18 under the state of emergency related to the coronavirus. The order temporarily suspends certain sections of real property tax law to allow local governments to suspend renewal requirements for income-based property exemptions for seniors. ....

The Common Council on Tuesday authorized the base salaries of administrative and non-represented city employees for 2021. The base salaries were set this fall by the council as part of the 2021 city budget process through meetings between the council and department heads. The resolution formally setting the base salaries of administrative and non-represented employees for next year saw wages for nearly every staffer falling under that category remain flat from the current year. ....
